Share your story. Your actual story. The one that you’ve run from, been terrified of, and are ashamed of. The one that you know will make people look at you just a little differently.
Courage. It’s so rare.
You’re capable of changing someone’s life.
You possess the lessons in life that matter. They’re not for sale. Adversity and struggle are the only tuitions.
Forget the justifications, the postering, and the pretensions. It’s too transparent and too shallow. There’s no value in that book. It’s elementary.
Cut to the bone and declare your truth.
Someone somewhere needs to know that they’re not the only ones that feel a million miles from normal. Whatever that is.
Shit happens. Life. It’s the real deal baby.
You got off course. Took a wrong turn and ended up in no man’s land. We’re not the first and there’s zero chance we’ll be the last.
You have a story that’s hiding within you. You just need that nudge, that helping hand, that uplifting, empowering whisper that comes from the person beside you, stating “we’ve got your back”.
Others that will feed off of your resilience, your courage, and your never-ending will to live.
They too want to be defiant in the face of suffering but they want to do it shoulder to shoulder, with you. At least to begin.
Be their starter gun. Help them bang out new beginnings. Aim ‘em at the sky. There are no limits.
You proved you can. You’re an example, an inspiration. You’re a survivor. You’re a leader in a society of followers.
It’s a lonely feeling on that canvas. Blood sweat and tears. Who’s looking? Who cares. The people that pick you up are the ones that matter.
“No man is an island.” John Donne
Ain’t that the truth.
Contribution. It is a word with such profound implications. The world is waiting for you to grasp its immensity.
We all have that story within us. A journey that we’ve had to take that has shaken our foundation and tested our faith to the core of our being.
A path we never wished for nor could rightfully conceive but a hand we were dealt with nevertheless. There was no way around it. We had to face the fire, as scorching as it felt.
While deep in its midst, it was difficult to retain our perspective and stay rational. We became impulsive, edgy, and overly reactive. Being present wasn’t even a consideration.
At the time, the past was haunting us and the future seemed terrifying.
Once we’re on the other side, it’s so easy to remain guarded, ashamed, and unclear on how to fully disclose what happened.
Judgment pounds a mean drum.
Others are simply not aware of the power of their own voice.
Sing, music is universal. Share your symphony. Share it proudly. It is moving.
Speak your reality however distorted you feel it may be. We are all contorted beings. We have all been stung by the shrapnel of life. Some cut deeper than others. Pull it out and liberate yourself. Let the wound breathe, heal, and alter you.
Damn it feels good to be alive.
Letting these wounds fester will only leave infectious toxins that drown our soul. Never allow this to happen.
“Life is for the living.” Langston Hughes
Dip your pen in pain.
Addiction, seven-figure financial losses, heartbreak, grief, abuse, and more. I’ve walked that plank of anguish.
I’m down for coffee. Hit me up anytime.
But this isn’t about me. It’s about you, your story, and your ability to change lives. It’s about the difference you’re capable of making.
There is something beautiful contained in pain. It is a gift, a heightened awareness. It is wisdom and acuity. It’s a six sense. An ability to feel the bead. To see the truth, and to find it quickly.
Your perception becomes elevated. Having run the gamut of emotion for so long and then ultimately regaining a rational outlook, you become more aware. Anyone who’s taken this journey understands.
You gain the ability to empathize with others who are in the midst of struggle. You have the acute awareness of how people move away from what’s real and painful and move towards the false harbors of comfort.
You gain an ability to see human nature for what it is. Not what it appears to be.
So here we are. It is time. Put your pen to paper, share it all.
Change a life.
Be truthful, be transparent, and stay real.
Be a difference-maker for someone who’s on that fence. Someone who needs to let it out.
Your humility, empathy, and courage will inspire. It will move people in a positive direction. It will matter.
It does matter.
