Heartache and Heartbreak

A Poem

Heartache and heartbreak.

Both send you helplessly into the abyss.

One has passed, the other moved on.

Reaching, yearning, crying, simply too much to miss.

Life can’t always be fair.

There’s pain, disappointment and those who will never care.

We lose what matters and we stand alone.

Stripped of our dignity, our hope, right down to the bone.

We remain defeated on the cold desolate shore.

The tide creeps out and the icy wind stabs evermore.

The seasons of life move our core.

Sorrow, hope, despair, belief.

We pick up the shells to console our grief.

The sun does set and the moon will beam.

It all comes back together as if nature captained our team.

Again we feel alive and want of chance.

Don’t shy away, take this time to dance.

To hurt is to live.

Discover the wisdom and offer to give.

You’ve experienced life and embraced humility.

New seeds of life crave your fertility.

Let them in and live again.

It’s what you must do so believe you can.
